Purpose and Operations

There are lots of tour plans in the market. 

(Like, you haven't noticed that while surfing the travel sites?) 

What sets the best apart is that extra something, that digging under the surface to discover what will really satisfy a particular traveler and then directing them to it here in Greece.  It's our hope that every person who uses Trip Tailors will return home having learned about, experienced and enjoyed this very rich land.

The Papadeas Travel office (D. Papadeas Travel, until Dimitris retired in August '02) has provided travel services for over 30 years, arranging anything from a simple taxi transfer to an inclusive tour package for a group. The travel professionals in the office continue to book the various travel components our customers may want: tickets, hotels, cruises, sightseeing.

Trip Tailors is an approach to travel planning that focuses on:

• integrated travel services for special interests
• programs that are just a bit different from the usual
• plans fitted to your particular wants and budget

We don't mean to put down the beach-n-beer holiday or the country as seen from air-conditioned coach or even the 'if it's Tuesday this must be Greece' whirlwind affair. They all have their following and they sometimes serve a purpose. But they're not for everybody and they have a way of insulating travelers from the real Greece, that continuum of culture from ancient roots to modern mayhem.

So what we want to do is suggest some ideas that may stimulate your own. 

And then work with you to bring them off.

• You can pick up one of our plans, as is, and put your group into it.
• You can use our idea as the basis for an even more tailored plan.
• You can ask us for something we haven't thought of.

We'll find the resources.

We're fairly flexible. Most of our plans have been cast with a group in mind. There's an economy of scale involved in some crucial elements such as transport, meeting facilities, etc. 

• Some, the social work seminars, for instance, require substantial coordination of professionals and facilities and are only offered to a pre-established group. 
• Others are popular enough that individuals can simply sign on and join in. 
• Some plans work well for large groups; the atmosphere of others may be lost in a crowd. 
• Quality at a reasonable price is always a consideration. 

Still, many of our group plans, with a little adjustment, can be replicated for individuals.

And one last word on why travel agents are still a good bet

Online booking is fairly easy these days if you know your way around the Internet and the venue you'll be visiting. So, why shouldn't you shop around and do-it-yourself? 

On the other hand, what if:

• You're venturing into new territory? 
• You don't speak the language? 
• The hotel isn't as pictured in the web page? 
• The transfer doesn't show up? 
• Your seat on the connecting flight has somehow been given away? 

You may be able to complain. You may even get reimbursement. But that may happen long after your holiday has been ruined. 

On the other hand, a reputable travel agent offers something you can't get over the ether: personal contact and service .... before, throughout and after your holiday. 

It's called the human touch.
